Sport Manitoba – STEINBACH, MB – After two and a half days of competition Team Central is leading the medal count with 74 medals. Competition in Phase One included athletics, baseball, basketball, golf, sailing and triathlon.

Phase two will run from August 10-13 in cycling, soccer, softball, swimming and volleyball, with Closing Ceremonies taking place on Saturday at 2:30 pm.

AboutPower Smart Manitoba Games

The Power Smart Manitoba Games are the province’s largest ongoing multi-sport event bringing together participants from across the province. The Games are held every two years and alternate between summer and winter sports events. Each set of Games involve upwards of 5,000 athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers. Steinbach’s successful bid to be the Host Community for the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games was announced in June 2014. On July 15, 2016 Virden was announced as the host of the 2018 Power Smart Winter Games.

Sport Manitoba is a not for profit organization and the lead planning, programming and funding agency for the development of amateur sport in Manitoba. Located in the Sport for Life Centre, Sport Manitoba partners with over 100 organizations to deliver sport in our province and is responsible for programs including the Power Smart Manitoba Games, Coaching Manitoba, Team Manitoba, Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, Fit Kids Healthy Kids and KidSport. Services provided include the Sport Medicine Centre, Sport Performance Centre, and Sport Resource Centre.
