Ultimate Canada – July 24, 2017 – WROCLAW, POLAND – Team Canada will bring home abronze medal from the 2017 World Games after a 13-11 win over Australia in an action-filled championship game at the Marsowe Fields in Wroclaw, Poland.

The Flying Disc events of the 2017 World Games were held from July 21st to 23rd. After falling to USA and Colombia in pool play, Canada had to battle Australia for hopes of a podium finish. Not unlike the 2013 World Games in Cali, Colombia, Canada won the championship game by a very small margin to take the bronze medal.

“We have a fantastic group of athletes and support staff that stayed awesome through the highs and lows of our journey,” said head coach Scott Hastie.

This group of athletes not only performed at their best, but they showed enthusiasm doing it. “I am most proud of the fact that we stayed committed to the goal of having the most fun possible while striving for continuous improvement in order to represent Canada with highly competitive play that never sacrificed the joy of play,” commented Hastie. As a proof of their commitment to the game, Team Canada even stayed at the fields post-games, win or lose, to teach the volunteers how to throw a frisbee!

“This is a great display of athletics and Spirit of the Game, which our sport is all about” said Danny Saunders, Executive Director of Ultimate Canada. “We are extremely proud of our athletes and what they accomplished this past week.”

The next international event for Team Canada will be the U24 World Championships held in Perth, Australia, January 7th to 14th, 2018.
