Team Canada to Play in Three Semifinal Events at Pan Am Championships
Racquetball Canada – Winnipeg, March 25, 2016 – Team Canada has advanced to the semifinals in three events at the Pan Am Racquetball Championships being held in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
In Women’s Singles, Frédérique Lambert of Montréal won her quarterfinal match against Carola Loma of Bolivia in two games. Lambert will face Anna Gabriela Martinez of Guatemala in the semifinal.
Jennifer Saunders of Winnipeg had advanced to the quarterfinals as well but lost her match against Jenny Daza of Bolivia in two games.
Lambert and Saunders faced the two Bolivian athletes again in the women’s doubles quarterfinal later in the day and were on top for the whole match winning in two games. The Canadian team will come up against the Pan Am Games and World Championship team of Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas of Mexico in the semifinal.
Pedro Castro of Brossard and Tim Landeryou of Calgary finished the day off with a big win in the men’s doubles quarterfinals against a tough Costa Rican team of Felipe Comacho and Teobaldo Fumero in a tiebreaker. Castro and Landeryou play against the top ranked team of Alejandro Landa and Javier Moreno of Mexico in the semifinal.
Samuel Murray had a close quarterfinal against Jake Bredenbeck of the United States but but lost narrowly in the tie breaker.

Jake Bredenbeck (USA) defeated Samuel Murray (Baie-Comeau), 15-1, 13-15, 11-8.
Women’s Singles – Quarterfinals
Frédérique Lambert (Montréal) defeated Carola Loma (BOL), 15-7, 15-11;
Jenny Daza (BOL) defeated Jennifer Saunders (Winnipeg), 15-3, 15-8.
Men’s Doubles – Quarterfinals
Pedro Castro / Tim Landeryou defeated Felipe Comacho / Teobaldo Fumero (CRC), 15-11, 13-15, 11-6.
Women’s Doubles – Quarterfinals
