U SPORTS – TORONTO – Team Canada saw its medal haul at the 2013 FISU Summer Universiade rise to 17 medals on Monday, following doping sanctions handed down by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

The men’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Michael Robertson) (University of Ottawa), Benjamin Ayesu-Attah (University of Idaho),Tyler Harper (South Plains College) and Brendon Rodney (Long Island University – Brooklyn) have been upgraded to gold from silver.

 

In addition, Chantelle Groenewoud(University of Illinois) has been promoted to a bronze medal from fourth place in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

Canada’s medal count from the 2013 FISU Summer Universiade held in Kazan, Russia now stands at three gold, four silver and 10 bronze.
