Team Alberta – Alberta athletes ready to deliver strong performances in Winnipeg

(Winnipeg, AB) Team Alberta is set to compete at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg and is determined to perform at the highest level.

A total of 344 athletes will compete wearing Team Alberta colours guided by 75 experienced coaches and managers.

Cam Berwald is leading Team Alberta as the Chef de Mission, supported by Pat Lechelt as Assistant Chef de Mission.

“We are excited to be in Winnipeg to compete at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. Team Alberta is ready to deliver strong performances. All of our athletes can feel confident that no stones were left unturned in our preparations for these Games,” said Cam Berwald. “Team Alberta athletes are focused, confident and prepared to perform.”

Team Alberta will represent a total of 73 communities across all corners of the province.
The Canada Games in Winnipeg mark the 50th anniversary of the multi-sport games, having begun in 1967 with the first event presented in Quebec City. The Games will also be part of the Canada 150 celebrations.

Alberta finished in fourth place of the last Canada Summer Games with 118 medals (34-42-42), just four medals shy of third-place British Columbia.

Leading up and during the Games, Team Alberta counts on the collaboration of all Provincial Sport Organizations that manage each sport respectively.

Team Alberta is supported by a dedicated and highly experienced Mission Staff comprised of 19 individuals heavily involved in the provincial and national high-performance sport stream.
