Synchro Canada – Ottawa, December 19, 2017 — Synchro Canada is pleased to announce the athletes who have been named to its 2018 Junior Worlds Athlete Pool. The 24 athletes were selected at the conclusion of Synchro Canada’s Fall Development and Evaluation Camp that took place in Montreal on November 22-26 at the Institut National du Sport du Québec (INS).

The members of the pool, who come from 5 provinces and 7 high-performance clubs from across the country, will spend the next few months preparing for the ultimate phase of the selection process for the team that will represent Canada at the FINA Junior World Artistic Swimming Championships next summer. The final selection will take place next March in Calgary, during the Canadian Qualifier. In the meantime, the athletes will be training and reporting their progress in a number of different areas including speed swimming, fitness, strength, flexibility and sport-specific skills.

“We are very pleased with the quality of the athletes in this year’s pool,” said Junior National Team Head Coach Kasia Kulesza (Quebec City, QC). “There’s a very good balance between experienced athletes and talented newcomers, and we can’t wait to see who will rise to the top next March.” Jennifer Koptie (Scarborough, ON) and Jenn Tregale (Calgary, AB) will be the assistant coaches joining Kulesza on this year’s Junior Worlds leadership team.

The FINA Junior World Artistic Swimming Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary, next July.
