– Synchro Canada is pleased to announce the members of its 2018 Junior National team, which is scheduled to compete in the FINA World Junior Artistic Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary, July 18-22, 2018.
The 24 members of Synchro Canada’s 2018 Junior Athlete pool took part in the final phase of the selection process on March 25-26, at the conclusion of the Canadian Artistic Swimming Qualifier, held at the Repsol Sport Centre in Calgary. The 6-day competition, which ran March 20-25, featured a total of 18 different events in the 13-15, junior and senior age groups.
The coaching team for the Canadian Junior Team was announced last December. Leading the team will be Kasia Kulesza
, from Québec City, QC, who has been named Head Coach. Jennifer Koptie
, from Scarborough, ON, and Jenn Tregale
, from Calgary, AB, will be the assistant coaches.
Julie Healy, Synchro Canada’s Chief Sport Officer, was pleased with the results of the selection process. “We were really able to assess the athletes under a variety of situations, and our coaching staff had the opportunity to put together what we feel is the strongest team who will work together as they prepare for the event in Budapest. Our congratulations to the club coaches who made sure their athletes were prepared for the final phase of the selection process. We had a very strong pool to choose from, which demonstrates that we are continuing to develop really good athletes across the country.”
