Swimming Press Release Results from Day One Canadian National Championships
Swim Nova Scotia – Montreal, QC – Eleven of Nova Scotia’s top swimmers began competing at the 2018 Canadian Swimming Championships in Montreal, Quebec today. The competition is taking place at Montreal’s Olympic Park Sports Centre through Sunday April 8th.
Top swims of the day included the Halifax Trojans Aquatic Club women’s 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay team with a sixth-place finish in a time of 8:48.66; relay members included Madison Archer, Hanna Mountford, Grace Earle and Isabelle Dearnaley. Natasha Sexton Quillian of the Sackville Waves Aquatic Team, finished sixth in the Para Women’s S10 400m Freestyle with a time of 5:42.72; she also competed in the Para Women’s S10 50m Freestyle where she finished 7th with a 33.21.
Canada’s top Junior swimmers are vying for spots on Canada’s National Development Teams; performances at these championships will stand as qualifying times for selection to the National Development Team for the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships and Youth Olympic Games taking place later this summer.
Prelims begin at 9:03am daily and finals will begin at 5:30pm local time.
