U SPORTS – TORONTO (U SPORTS) – Graham Brown, President and CEO of U SPORTS, released the following statement today:

“Along with football fans across the country, U SPORTS is looking forward to more exciting playoff games this weekend. A pair of contests will decide which two teams will advance to the 53rd ArcelorMittal Dofasco Vanier Cup in Hamilton on November 25.

Congratulations to the Acadia Axemen on their dramatic Loney Bowl win on Tuesday, which will be remembered as one of the most exciting contests in university football history. Fans who watched the game were part of an instant classic.

The action returns to Wolfville, N.S., this weekend, when Acadia and the Western Mustangs participate in the Uteck Bowl. In Calgary, a rematch of last year’s national championship will take place in the Mitchell Bowl, with the reigning Vanier Cup champion Laval Rouge et Or visiting the University of Calgary Dinos.

Calgary advanced on the weekend with a breathtaking last-second 59-yard field goal — a play so exciting it has received international media coverage.
