Sport Calgary – CALGARY, Alberta — Sport Calgary and the City of Calgary today expressed strong support to Hockey Calgary for its recent stand on zero tolerance of bad behaviour in the rink.  

Sport Calgary understands that sport can teach respect, sportsmanship, teamwork, and inclusion to athletes, coaches, officials, and parents.  “We unequivocally support the Respect in Sport programs,” says Murray Sigler, Executive Director & CEO of Sport Calgary. “These programs are mandatory for many sport groups and Sport Calgary encourages the implementation of these programs for all members of sport organizations. Thank you to Hockey Calgary for taking this stand and we encourage all sport organizations and groups to abide by this standard.”  

Kyle Ripley, Acting Director Calgary Recreation, agrees, “Everyone should be treated with respect. We will always stand by the values of respect, integrity, and inclusion that sport can bring.”
