Sport for Life Society – Hello Sport for Life Champion,

The deadline to register for the 2019 Sport for Life Canadian Summit at the regular rate closes January 10. The Summit takes place in Gatineau, Quebec from January 22-24. Here are six reasons you should attend:

Quality and Variety of Presentations

We’re very excited to announce that 140-plus presenters — all leaders in their respective fields and sectors, and bringing expertise and perspective from six different countries — will deliver more than 60 sessions! These presenters will share leading-edge research, findings, and best practices from across six different streams.

This year, one of our Summit streams is sponsored by Ville de Gatineau and Tourism Outaouais. They have chosen :

Moving Programs: Spark discussions amongst leaders and experts who are taking action and learning lessons for developing and delivering quality sport and physical activity programs. These programs range from Active Start to Train to Win and on to Active for Life.

Summit Emcees and Keynote

Sport for Life is very proud to have Beckie Scott, Olympian and leader in community sport in Canada, as one of our keynote speakers.

Beckie Scott retired in 2006 as Canada’s most decorated cross-country ski racer in the history of the sport. A three-time Olympian, Scott won gold in Salt Lake City in 2002, becoming the first Canadian (and first North American woman) to win an Olympic medal in cross-country skiing. She followed that up with Olympic silver in 2006, and a record 17 World Cup podium finishes.

Kim St-Pierre, Olympic Gold Medallist, and Ram Nayyar, National Coach for Badminton Canada’s Para Program, will be our emcees during the Summit.

Kim St-Pierre helped Canada win gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games, the 2006 Turin Olympic Games and the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games in women’s ice hockey. Kim also helped the national team win five gold and four silver medals at the World Championships.

Ram is currently the Head Coach for Badminton Canada’s Para Badminton Program, with previous experience as High-Performance Director and Head National Coach for Badminton Canada. He is also the Head Coach for the Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club, and a Master Learning Facilitator holding coach education workshops throughout Canada.

Physical Literacy Instructor Program Workshops

The Sport for Life Society, Coaching Association of Canada, and HIGH FIVE® have come together to support recreation leaders, coaches and others in becoming a physical literacy instructor.

The Physical Literacy Instructor Program is a national, blended e-learning and in-person training experience that provides the opportunity to become a recognized physical literacy instructor.
