Softball Canada – (Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is pleased to announce that six of its umpires have been selected for the upcoming 2017 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Softball World Championships. Daryl Helmer (Airdrie, AB), Peter Kluszczynski (Barrie, ON), Mike Morrissey (Peterborough, ON) and Gary Skjerven (Radville, SK) will work the Men’s Softball World Championship in Whitehorse, Yukon from July 7-16, while Scott McLaren (Penticton, BC) and Annie Michaud (Montreal, QC) will head to the Junior Women’s Softball World Championship July 24-30 in Clearwater, Florida.
 
At the Men’s event, Skjerven will be attending his second Men’s World Championship after working the event in 2009, while Helmer, Kluszczynski and Morrissey will be attending their first. Helmer has previous international experience at the 2013 Women’s Pan American Championship and the 2014 Junior Men’s Softball World Championship, while Morrissey attended the 2016 Junior Men’s World Championship. Kluszczynski and Skjerven both umpired the Men’s Softball competition at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
 
On the women’s side, Michaud worked the women’s softball competition at the 2013 Canada Summer Games and the 2016 World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, while McLaren has previous experience at the 2014 Junior Men’s World Championship.
