Swim Nova Scotia​ – Etobicoke, ON – Christian Payne of the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club was the top Nova Scotia finisher during the second day of competition at the 2017 Speedo Eastern Championships in Etobicoke at the Etobicoke Olympium.  Payne finished second in the men’s 14 & over 50m Backstroke with a time of 27.01. 

Other top finishers of the day included Isabel Sarty and Madison Archer, both from the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club.  Isabel swam the 16 & Over 100m Freestyle with a season best time of 58.40; while Madison swam in the 13-15 400m Individual Medley with a personal best time of 5:06.99, both girls finished ninth.

During the preliminaries; teammate, Nicholas Bourbonniere set a new Nova Scotia Provincial Record in the 13-14 men’s 400m Individual Medley with a lifetime best time of 4:51.09.

This long course competition serves as an excellent racing and development opportunity for Youth and Junior competitors, and is held on the same weekend as the Speedo Western Championships.  There are 840 swimmers racing this weekend at the Eastern Championships, including 17 swimmers from various teams in Nova Scotia.
