Ottawa Sport Council – The Ottawa Sport Council (OSC) is pleased to announce that we will be holding our third annual Sport Summit on Saturday, November 26th at the Horticulture Building, Lansdowne Park.

This Year’s Theme

Volunteerism is the backbone of Canada’s sport system. Currently, Canada has over 6.5 million volunteers with 35% of those being involved in sport. Additionally, 73% of sport organizations indicate they have no paid employees, making volunteerism an important factor in delivering great experiences in sport.

Since its formation, OSC has strived to help increase the leadership capacity of sport organizations in our nation’s capital. Volunteer Management, including recruitment, retention, recognition and retirement has been identified as an ongoing challenge by clubs in Ottawa.

To address this challenge, at this year’s Sport Summit, Engage. Inspire. Sustain. Creating Your Volunteer Movement, we’re going to focus on volunteer management and engage participants with some entertaining and educational activities. We’re also going to connect you with subject matter experts that can provide some new ideas on this important topic.

Event Details

Just like last year, this is a free event. We do ask participants to consider making a minimum $30 donation to the Ottawa Sport Council Foundation. The Ottawa Sport Council Foundation has been created to provide sporting organizations with grants, adopting key focus areas each year. Tax receipts will be provided.

More details and full registration information will be available in September. We hope to see you at the 2016 Sport Summit!
