SAVE THE DATE – Healthy Living Leader Training
Aboriginal Healthy Living Activities program of the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council of BC – I·SPARC is pleased to announce the Healthy Living Leader Training Session dates for 2018. These complimentary sessions are available to Indigenous community members and those working within Indigenous communities who want to deliver an Aboriginal Run Walk or Honour Your Health Challenge program.

As part of the Aboriginal Healthy Living Activities programming, five Healthy Living Leader Training Sessions will be hosted, featuring two days of health and wellness workshops, providing participants with the tools they need to develop their own community-based healthy living program. Participants have the option of training in either the Aboriginal Run Walk or the Honour Your Health Challenge:
- Aboriginal RunWalk: lead your participants in a 8 – 13 week training program, preparing for a 5 or 10 km run/walk event
- Honour Your Health Challenge: develop your own healthy living program, based on your community’s needs – past programs include creating a community cookbook, Family Fitness Fridays, weekly plant identification walks, “Kick the Nic” tobacco cessations program, Moccasin Mamas, and many more.
This year’s agenda includes workshops in the Holistic Wellness Model, Active Communities (physical literacy), Harm Reduction, Nordic Walking, Yoga, Mental Wellness, Nutrition, FitNation, and more!
Training sessions are free to attend with accommodation provided, and travel subsidies available. All participants who attend will be eligible to apply for up to $1000 in grant support of their Aboriginal Run Walk or Honour Your Health Challenge program.
