Saunders and Murray Win at National Team Selection Event
Racquetball Canada – November 28, 2016, Valleyfield, QC – Jennifer Saunders of Winnipeg and Samuel Murray of Baie-Commeau emerged as the top athletes at Racquetball Canada’s National Team Selection Event held November 25 to 27 in Valleyfield, QC.
Saunders is has been on the podium many times at the national and international level. She is the defending Women’s Open Singles Canadian Champion and also holds the Canadian record for the most singles titles with nine.
This is the second National Team Selection Event win for Samuel Murray, who is the youngest male athlete on the National Team. Murray won the first selection event in the 2015 season and is the 3rd ranked male athlete in Canada.
Thirty of Canada’s best racquetball athletes have gathered in Valleyfield, Québec for tNational Team Selection Event, which was the first of two events this season. Results will be used to help determine the team that will represent Canada at international competitions in 2017. Results are also used to determine Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program nominations and positions on national development teams.
