Rugby Ontario – (TORONTO, ON) – The Women’s High Performance team will take on the Ontario Blues title for the 2017 season, replacing the existing Ontario Storm name. The name update comes as Rugby Ontario continues to focus on the growth of the Women’s game across the province, while building a unified culture and brand across all provincial high performance teams.

With the switch to the Blues name, Rugby Ontario has also released new logos, which will be used across all high performance programs, for each Men’s and Women’s team.

The Ontario Blues Women’s side (formerly the Storm) is set to take the field once again this spring, after finishing second at the Canadian Rugby Championships last season, while the U20 side won gold. Though many core players will be called up to the Canadian side heading to the Women’s Rugby World Cup, the Women look to continue their strong performance, as they head to Nova Scotia for the 2017 edition of the Canadian Rugby Championships.

The Ontario Blues Men’s side is coming off of a MacTier Cup win, the fifth all-time for the Ontario side. The Men’s U19 side finished second in their Canadian Rugby Championship. They look to continue their success into 2017, with a strong core of remaining players, as well as a plethora of young talent coming through the development system. The Blues squad includes multiple players who have represented Canada on the International stage.

The other provincial teams that fall under the new branding include the Ontario Junior Blues program, as well as the Blues Sevens.
