RSEQ Montréal, April 1st – The RSEQ and TVA Sports are pleased to announce the Quebec university football schedule and televised games for the 2016 season.

On Saturday, Sept. 3, TVA Sports will kickoff its 11-game broadcast schedule with a rematch of last season’s Dunsmore Cup game between the RSEQ champion Montréal Carabins and the Laval Rouge et Or. Kickoff is 7 p.m. The pregame show starts at 6:30 p.m.

In addition, TVA Sports will launch its university football coverage with a 30-minute season preview on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

As the RSEQ’s broadcast partner, TVA Sports has committed to covering Quebec university football through 2019.

TVA Sports will have its team of football experts back in place this season. Denis Casavant and Charles-Antoine Sinotte, a former McGill Redman standout, will call the games. While Louis-Simon Lapointe will be on the sidelines and Matthieu Quiviger, a former Montreal Alouette lineman, will serve as an analyst.

Serge Fortin, vice president of TVA Sports, is enthusiastic about the 2016 coverage.

“The great rivalries in RSEQ university football have become must-see games on TVA Sports,” he said. “Football has a special place in our programming, and the success of the RSEQ games confirms that our viewers have a great interest in this intense and engaging sport.”

“Starting our second year of broadcasting university football with TVA Sports, we are very satisfied with the partnership we have with our broadcaster,” said Gustave Roel, the Chief Executive Officer of the RSEQ. “The first year of our agreement was a success and allowed the RSEQ to really shine. We are happy to be able to count on TVA Sports as a major partner through 2019. The coming years will allow us to develop our partnership further.”

Scheduling principles intact
The formula used for scheduling is the same as last year. The six universities will play eight regular season games meeting each of their Quebec opponents once. The top three teams in the 2015 season will play each other a second time. The bottom three teams will also play each other an additional time.
