Rowing Canada Aviron – VICTORIA, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 – Rowing Canada Aviron’s (RCA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Terry Dillon as Chief Executive Officer. Dillon, who will be based in Victoria, B.C., joins RCA with a strong background of experience in sport, education and leadership management. He will begin his role on February 1, 2017.
 
“I’m excited to be joining Rowing Canada and to have been given this great opportunity of leading the organization into the next quadrennial,” said Dillon. “I look forward to working with our athletes, coaches, staff and the Canadian rowing community to continue Canada’s tradition of excellence in rowing.”
 
Most recently, Dillon held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Refinery Leadership Partners, an international consulting firm which specializes in leadership development and management training. He has held a number of leadership positions in sport including as a Board member with British Rowing, where he led the redesign and upgrade of coach education programs.
 
Dillon has also played key roles in the strategic reviews of several National Sport Organizations including British Rowing and Canada Snowboard, Biathlon Canada and Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton.
 
“Terry comes to RCA with a passion for the development and advancement of rowing in Canada as both a former athlete and sport leader,” said Mike Walker, President, RCA. “His proven experience in management, education and sport will support the achievement of our strategic goals and benefit both RCA and Canadian rowing moving forward. We’re thrilled to welcome Terry to Rowing Canada and look forward to working with him.”
 
Dillon competed with the British national rowing team from 1985 to 1993 and is a two-time Olympian. He won a bronze medal in the coxed four at the 1989 World Rowing Championships.
 
Walker added, “On behalf of RCA’s Board of Directors, I’d also like to thank Donna Atkinson for her years of service to our organization. Donna’s tireless efforts as the CEO of RCA has served to strengthen Canadian rowing at all levels.”
 
Atkinson will retire from her role following the RCA National Conference, a move that was announced in February 2016.
