Rio Ready Campaign Launched
PISE – Langford Mayor Stew Young and Dale Gann of Bear Mountain Resort in collaboration with PISE, SportHost Victoria, UVic Vikes and the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame launched their Rio Ready campaign today – a community celebration designed to create excitement in Greater Victoria, leading up to and during the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As the Capital Region is home to numerous Canadian national teams and Olympic hopefuls, citizens are encouraged to join us in supporting and cheering on Canada’s athletes!
Silken Laumann (Three-time Olympic Medalist – Rowing) and Andrew Byrnes (Gold & Silver Medalist – Rowing) joined Langford Mayor Stew Young and children on stage in celebration of community spirit around the Games.
Starting at the Opening Ceremonies on August 5, 2016, the community is invited to attend the Olympic and Paralympic Fan Zone at Bear Mountain. Watch athletes from 10 National Sports that train in Greater Victoria go for Gold in Rio. Catch the spirit, bring the kids and inspire them to be active for life!
