Rio 2016 Olympic Champions in Trampoline to hit Calgary for Canada Cup Competition
Gymnastics Canada – CALGARY, AB (April 28, 2017) – Media are invited to attend the 2017 Canada Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics competition running from Friday, May 5th to Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at the Genesis Centre in Calgary, AB.
Hosted by the Alberta Trampoline and Tumbling Sports Association, in collaboration with Gymnastics Canada and Gymnastics Alberta, this event brings together 250 of Canada’s best national level and high performance junior and senior gymnasts who will challenge for the title of Canada Cup Champion in men’s and women’s individual and synchronized trampoline, tumbling, and double mini-trampoline. An internationally sanctioned event, national teams from Belarus, Sweden, and the United States will also be competing.
2012 and 2016 Olympic trampoline champion Rosie MacLennan will not be competing, but will be on-site Sunday and available for interviews. Also at the competition will be the 2016 men’s trampoline Olympic Champion Uladzislau Hancharou from Belarus who will compete in individual and synchronized trampoline.
The athletes chosen to represent Canada at this summer’s 2017 World Games will be announced on Sunday after finals, along with the 2016 Canadian Athlete and Coach of the Year.
