Rowing Canada Aviron – BURNABY, BC – The 2017 RCA National Rowing Championships – Canada Cup is being hosted by Rowing BC at Burnaby Lake this weekend. The regatta racing begins on Thursday, November 9th until Sunday, November 12th.

The National Rowing Championships are open to competitors from all over Canada as representatives of their home province. The small boat racing (singles and pairs) provides the ideal measure to assess the fastest rowers in the country, resulting in the naming of national champions. The Canada Cup portion that follows provides the opportunity for Canada’s developing rowers to compete against other provinces with larger crews and National Team athletes who originated from their home province.

Follow all the action @BCRowing on social media using #NRC2017. The event schedule and further details can be found at Regatta Central.

RCA will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1992 Olympic Rowing Team. In 1992, the Canadian Olympic Rowing team achieved a high water haul of medals, winning 4 Gold and a Bronze at the Barcelona Olympics. The 1992 Olympic Medal winning crews, as well as members in the Coaches and Builder categories will be inducted into the Canadian Rowing Hall of Fame.

Joining the crews will be coaches Mike Spracklen and Al Morrow along with Peter Copland and Doug Hamilton in the builder category. This event will take place at the Vancouver Rowing Club on Friday, November 10th.
