Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association – Dalhousie Agricultural Campus has been awarded the 2019 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Badminton National Championships.

The Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) institution will host the event in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia, March 6-9, 2019.

“DAL AC has a reputation of hosting first class events, so I have no doubt they will put on a fantastic National Championship,” said Jordan Richey, CCAA Badminton Convenor. “The hospitality that will be shown to the badminton student-athletes and support staff coming to Truro will be second to none.”

The Rams hosted CCAA Badminton National Championships in 1994 and 1999. The University of King’s College was the last ACAA institution to host CCAA Badminton in 2015.

“We look forward to having the CCAA Badminton Nationals back in Atlantic Canada in 2019,” said Richey.

Dalhousie University’s Agricultural Campus is situated just outside of the Town of Truro, in the Village of Bible Hill. Matches will be contested at the Langille Athletic Centre, which provides athletic, fitness and recreational services first to student-athletes of the university, but also to faculty and members of the surrounding community.

Badminton Nova Scotia also has a strong club presence in the province and has an active Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation (NSSAF) program through all levels of the secondary school system.

“DAL AC has a strong history in hosting sporting events,” said Judy Smith, Director of Athletic Services at Dalhousie. “Having hosted many ACAA and CCAA Badminton Championships, the athletic department benefits from an experienced and knowledgeable administrative staff who are very familiar with the hosting process.”

The 2018 CCAA Badminton National Championships will be hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton, in Edmonton, AB, from Feb. 28 – March 3.
