Institut national du sport du Québec – Montreal, June 23, 2016 – The Association québécoise des médecins du sport (AQMS) recently paid tribute to Dr. Suzanne Leclerc for her role in the advancement of sport medicine in Québec. Dr. Leclerc was among the first francophone sport medicine fellows at McGill University. Next, she turned her focus to developing tools for athlete care while completing a PhD on concussions. “I am very honoured to have received this tribute from my peers,” she commented. “I would like to thank all my colleagues and collaborators for their contribution and partnership. I hope to continue helping the field of sport medicine develop and grow, both in and outside Quebec.”

Known for the key role she played in founding the CEPSUM sport medicine clinic, Dr. Leclerc has also taught residents at Hôpital Notre-Dame’s family medicine unit. “All who know her recognize that although she tends to keep quiet about her achievements, Dr. Leclerc has risen through the ranks to attain the highest level of excellence in the practice of sport medicine,” said AQMS President Diane Lambert. “She is also an advocate for our field at home and around the world, where she takes part in numerous international events.”

Dr. Leclerc’s work with high-performance athletes is well known. As her peers will all profess, she has always been adept at managing the pressure of the sports world while making each athlete’s health her top priority. For these peers, Dr. Leclerc’s appointment as head of the Sport Medicine Direction at INS Québec attests to her exceptional skills as a sport medicine professional. “INS Québec welcomes this tribute to Dr. Leclerc as evidence of the outstanding abilities of our specialists and the quality of our teams,” remarked Gaëtan Robitaille, President and CEO of INS Québec. “We are extremely proud.”
