PRESS RELEASE: ALBERTA CLAIMS GOLD AT THE 2018 JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP; SASKATCHEWAN WINS BRONZE
Wheelchair Basketball Canada -(March 18, 2018 – LONGUEUIL, QUE.) Alberta outmaneuvered the four-time Canada Games gold medalists in the finals of the 2018 Junior National Championship Sunday in Longueuil, winning 71 – 55 against Quebec, claiming gold. Alberta will be the top seeded team heading into the 2019 Canada Games, while Quebec will have to settle for silver and second seed.
Bradon Doll made a big impact in this hard-hitting, fast-paced game, leading Alberta with 30 points, and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
Team Saskatchewan, who entered the tournament as the reigning Junior National Champions, defeated Ontario 69 – 51 in the bronze medal game. They finish with a record of four wins and two losses and will be ranked third at the 2019 Canada Games.
