Canada Manitoba – WINNIPEG, MB.  Mar 1, 2016 – Lynn Cabak and Lori Miller, Event Co-Chairpersons, are pleased to announce the Portage Skating Club and the Skate Canada Manitoba Section are hosting the 2016 Crocus Invitational Synchronized Skating Competition at the PCU Centre in Portage la Prairie, MB on March 19, 2016.

Over two hundred skaters on 22 teams will compete at this competition. This competition provides the teams the opportunity to display the skills they have been practicing during the season. Eight levels are represented starting from Beginner I and II up to Pre-Novice and Adult II. This provides an opportunity for very young to adult skaters to participate in the event. It also allows the participants the opportunity to watch higher level skaters and to experience the challenges and personal growth involved in competing at each level. Skaters experience self-satisfaction in achieving competitive goals, learning about Canada and meeting competitors from across the region, and experiencing the camaraderie of traveling as part of a team.

Shauna Marling, Executive Director Skate Canada Manitoba thanked the Portage Skating Club, and its volunteers for hosting this exciting and fun event.  Marling explained that synchronized skating is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit by executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow. Marling added Synchronized Skating is very exciting and fun to watch.

The Portage Skating Club invites everyone to attend this competition and enjoy some excellent Synchronized Skating.
Tickets for the Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Sectionals Manitoba Competition are available at the PCU Centre.
