PISE – PISE (Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence) is excited to announce that CEO Robert Bettauer is a tennis analyst for CBC/Radio-Canada at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The tennis competition runs from August 6 – 14. Bettauer will be working alongside long time broadcast play-by-play partner Rob Faulds in covering the Rio tennis event.

First round action starts on Saturday August 6 at the Olympic Tennis Centre in the Barra Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro. The finals will be held on August 13 and 14.

Bettauer, a former Canadian Davis Cup player and Olympic Coach, brings an impressive list of credentials to his role with CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of tennis in Rio. As a senior sports leader in Canada his previous roles include founding President and CEO of the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario, and the Director of Tennis Development for Tennis Canada.  As an athlete Bettauer has won several national tennis titles and was a member of Canada’s Davis Cup Team, while also holding an ATP Tour world ranking in singles and doubles. As a national coach he ran Tennis Canada’s first Western Canadian high performance training centre at UBC, and helped coach the Davis Cup team, followed by coaching Canada’s tennis team at the Olympic Games in Seoul and Barcelona. Bettauer has provided television commentary and analysis on tennis for over 25 years at the Rogers Cup, Olympics, Davis Cup and Fed Cup.  He is currently the Chair of the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame, a Board member of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame and continues to be an active tennis player and coach. Bettauer is one of the top senior tennis players in the country, and represented Canada in the 2013, 2014 and 2016 World Senior Team Championships.
