PISE’s Robert Bettauer Announcing at 2016 Rogers Cup
PISE – PISE (Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence) is excited to announce that CEO Robert Bettauer is a tennis analyst and host for the 2016 Rogers Cup this week. The tournament, being held in Toronto and Montreal, runs through to July 31.
Bettauer, a former Canadian Davis Cup player and Olympic Coach, is providing tennis analysis for the event from Tennis Central at the Avivia Centre in Toronto, along with Damien Cox and hosts Brad Fay and Caroline Cameron. The men’s tournament is headlined by Milos Raonic, who became the first Canadian male to reach a Grand Slam final earlier this month at Wimbledon. Playing in front of his home crowd, Raonic will be challenged by World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and two-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka. In Montreal, hometown hero Eugenie Bouchard will be joined by World No. 2 Angelique Kerber and World No. 4 Angieszka Radwanska.
Bettauer has an extensive history as a senior sports leader in Canada with previous roles as the founding President and CEO of the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario, and the Director of Tennis Development for Tennis Canada. As an athlete Robert has won several national tennis titles and was a member of Canada’s Davis Cup Team, while also holding an ATP Tour world ranking in singles and doubles. As a national coach Robert ran Tennis Canada’s first Western Canadian high performance training centre at UBC, and helped coach the Davis Cup team leading to coaching Canada’s tennis team at the Olympic Games in Seoul and Barcelona. Bettauer has provided television commentary and analysis on tennis for over 25 years at the Rogers Cup, Olympics, Davis Cup and Fed Cup. He is currently the Chair of the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame, a Board member of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame and continues to be an active tennis player and coach. Bettauer is one of the top senior tennis players in the country, and represented Canada in the 2013, 2014 and 2016 World Senior Team Championships. He will be joining the CBC commentary team as a tennis analyst at the upcoming Rio Olympic Games.
