Nova Scotia Golf Association – Peter Campbell, from Baddeck, has won his first professional title at the Beijing Championship. He is a member of the PGA Tour China. Prior to his win this past weekend, Campbell’s top finish this season was T14 at the Chongqing Championship held at the Poly Golf Club in late March.

Campbell carded a five-under par 67 and was tied for 5th after the first round. During the second round, he fired an eight-under par 64 which put him on top of the leaderboard.  He maintained his lead after posting a 70 during the third round. The 2006 Nova Scotia Amateur Champion secured his win with a two-under par 70 during the final round. He finished with a four round total of 271 and defeated Huilin Zhang of China by one stroke.

Prior to his win on July 29, Campbell narrowly missed the cut in his last two events. Feeling discouraged Campbell pondered the idea of returning home to Cape Breton and not playing in the Beijing Championship. Fortunately, his family persuaded him to stay in China and compete.

This win has propelled Campbell from 55th to 9th place on the PGA Tour China’s Order of Merit, and has increased his winnings this year to ¥334350 ($63,824). The top ten on the PGA Tour China Order of Merit will earn status on the Web.com Tour in 2019.
