Classroom Champions – Calgary, AB (February 1, 2016) – Paralympic Snowboarder, Michelle Salt, is taking time out of her training to make a special appearance at Dr. Gordon Higgins School. Salt has been mentoring students throughout the school year as part of her involvement with Classroom Champions. During the fall of 2015, Michelle challenged Classroom Champions students to design her new 2016 World Cup Snowboard. Today we will unveil the design and introduce the winning artist.

Classroom Champions is a non-profit organization which connects top performing athletes with students in schools across Canada, the US and Costa Rica to recognize their potential, set goals and dream big while educating them in the practical use of communications technology. Video lessons complemented by curriculumbased activities delivered throughout the school year build a powerful relationship between students and their Athlete Mentors.

Every month, Michelle has been delivering new lessons based on the Classroom Champions’ themes via video. Six classrooms in two area schools will have the opportunity to learn about goal setting, perseverance, and leadership from the world’s best athletes. Classroom Champions and a group of dedicated Athlete Mentors are taking an active role in education, allowing students at Calgary and throughout North America to experience the power of sport throughout the school year. This is Michelle’s second year in the program as an Athlete Mentor.

We hope you can join the students, teachers and Michelle for this announcement.
