Canoe Kayak Canada – The Rideau Canoe Club in Ottawa and a joint host committee from Wascana Canoe Club in Regina and Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan have been officially selected to host the 2018 editions of the Sprint Canoe Kayak Canada Cup. For the first time this year, the East and West Canada Cup will be integrated into long standing Canada Regattas in both Ottawa and Regina the weekend of Canada Day, from June 30th to July 1st.
 
“We are delighted to be going back to Ottawa for this year’s Canada Cup and we are very excited to be adding Regina as a venue to create the East and West Canada Cup in 2018,” said Ian Mortimer, Director of Development at Canoe Kayak Canada.
 
“The Canada Cup allows different age group and athletes at different competition levels to compete against some of the best paddlers in the country. It’s a great opportunity for developing young athletes in Canada,” he added.
 
The competition will feature Canadian, Provincial and Territorial Teams competing against each other, along with Canadian Club Teams and also teams coming from the United States, Mexico and other countries.

West Canada Cup For the first time, Saskatchewan will be hosting this national regatta from June 30th to July 1st. It will allow more athletes from the west of the country to attend this great event which will be an important part of their preparation for the end of the season.
 
“We are very exciting to be hosting the Canada Cup for the first time and Lake Wascana is the perfect venue for such an event,” said Dave Robertson, Executive Director at Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan. “Athletes will benefit from this regatta as it is a great experience for them to get ready for the National Championships and other major national events during the summer.” Lake Wascana, Regina, Saskatchewan (2014)

East Canada Cup The Canada Cup will be coming back at the Rideau Canoe Club again this year. During the same weekend, from June 30th to July 1st, athletes will be racing on the Mooney’s Bay in Ottawa.
