Ontario Soccer – Ontario teams finish with five medals at Toyota National Championships

From the 640 participating clubs, over the past 13 months, 66 finalists attended this year’s Toyota National Championships, held Oct. 3-8, and five of the teams from Ontario returned with medals to show for their hard work. 

Scarborough GS United and the Woodbridge Strikers won gold in their respective divisions, Caledon SC settled for silver, while Burlington and Vaughan won bronze.

Ontario Soccer Board of Directors elections to take place Oct. 14

The Ontario Soccer Board of Directors elections will be held at the Ontario Soccer AGM, scheduled to take place at the Jewel Event Centre on Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. 

The new Ontario Soccer Board of Directors is comprised of 12 Directors, including a President, Vice-President, five Regional Directors and two Independent Directors, elected by the Voting Members and three Designated Directors, recommended by the Nominations Committee.

Canada will have the chance to see some of the nation’s brightest young talents and notable veterans in action in Toronto this coming Tuesday, Oct. 16. 

Canada Soccer has announced their Men’s National Team squad for their first home match in the 2018-19 CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying, featuring some familiar heroes, as well as some emerging international talents. 

Fifteen players who got their start in Ontario will be in the squad for this important match-up.

8 winners at Regional League Champions Tournament crowned

The Regional Champions Tournament took place over the weekend as Regional League winners from the U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17 age groups competed against one another at the University of Guelph Gryphons Field Complex. 

Eight new Regional Champions were declared along with eight finalists also named in this soccer for life competition.

The Female Mentorship Program is part of a holistic support system approach and is one more component on Ontario Soccer’s commitment to Long-Term Player Development (LTPD), under the guidance of Canada Soccer.

Over 20,000 soccer leaders now certified in Activity Leader program

Ontario Soccer is continuing to show that the safety of their athletes and participants are a priority to the community. 

This week, Respect in Sport revealed that Ontario Soccer has surpassed 20,000 certifications in the Respect in Sport Activity Leader program. 

This is in addition to the 10,000 parents who have already been certified in the Respect in Sport Parent Program.
