WHAT:

In keeping with Canada Games tradition, the Manitoba Hydro Torch Relay begins June 6, with the lighting of the Roly McLenahan Torch at the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. This highly symbolic ceremony brings energy and excitement to the nation and connects the capital city to the 13 provinces and territories that will send 4,000 athletes and coaches to Winnipeg to participate in the 50th anniversary of the Canada Games from July 28 to August 13, 2017.

Once lit, the torch will make its way back to Manitoba and to tour 11 communities: Steinbach Kenora (Ontario), Morden, Gillam, Fox Lake Cree Nation, Thompson, The Pas, Opaskawayak Cree Nation, Dauphin, Gimli, Brandon, Sagkeeng First Nation, and Great Falls before the final community celebration in Winnipeg.
