Swimming Canada – OTTAWA – Swimming Canada has finalized its team lists for this year’s major senior and junior international events.

The teams for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Windsor 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) and Pan Pacific Championships in Maui have been officially posted to the Swimming Canada website.

As part of this process, Swimming Canada is also implementing a new, more broad system of coach recognition. A world-class swimmer is rarely influenced by just one coach, so athletes have now been asked to list three coaches who played key roles in their development. In addition to the coach of record, a swimmer’s previous coach will be recognized, as well as the coach who guided them to their first national championships or Trials.

“Swimming Canada recognizes that the relationship between an athlete and their coach is critical for the athlete’s performance. It is also important to note that different coaches often play a key role in the athlete development pathway at critical development phases,” said Swimming Canada High Performance Director John Atkinson.

These coaches are all listed on the official team list documents posted at https://www.swimming.ca/en/national-teams/
