Sport Nova Scotia – Halifax, N.S. – This past week, two Nova Scotian athletes secured their spots on National Rowing Teams that will be travelling to World Championship regattas this summer.

Zak Lewis has guaranteed his second straight appearance at the World University Championships in Poznan, Poland from September 2-4, 2016 by being selected to the Canadian International University Sports Federation (FISU) team. This year Zak will be competing in the men’s four where he will look to better his 9th place result from last year.

Cody Bailey has qualified to represent Canada as part of the Canadian Under-23 National Team that will be competing in the World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands from August 21-28, 2016.  Cody will be eyeing a medal in the men’s double sculls event with partner Trevor Jones.

Provincial Team Coach, Pat Cody said, “It is exciting news that Nova Scotia has two athletes who have qualified for national teams.  We are proud of the hard work they have demonstrated allowing them to take the next step towards their dreams. It is extremely encouraging to see our athlete development pathway in Nova Scotia producing national caliber athletes.”
