Nova Scotia Swimmers Wrap Up Competition With More Medals at the 2016 Canadian Age Group National Championships
Swim Nova Scotia – Calgary, AB– 14-year-old Jade Hannah of the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club wrapped up the final day of pool competition at the Talisman Centre in Calgary at the 2016 Canadian Age Group National Championships with a total of seven individual medals. Tonight in the pool, Jade added another gold medal to her collection in the 50m Butterfly with a time of 27.78; along with a bronze in the 200m Individual Medley in a time of 2:23.63. Jade won gold earlier this week in the 100m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke and silver in the 200m Butterfly. She also set new NS Provincial Long Course records in the 13-14 Women’s 50m Backstroke during both her preliminary and finals swims.
Other top swims of the day included Lucas Seto of the Dartmouth Crusaders Swim Club who set a new Nova Scotia 13-14 Men’s Provincial Record with his silver medal finish in the 50m Backstroke with a time of 26.92.
Halifax Trojan Madison Archer finished third in the 14-year-old women’s 400m Freestyle with a personal best time of 4:33.46
The Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club finished in 6th place the women’s team scores and 9th in the combined team scores.
Nova Scotia swimmers had a tremendous competition this week. Jade Hannah, Sarah Polley, Isabel Sarty, Alec Karlsen, Colm Somers, Brett Liem, and Benjamin Henger will join six other Nova Scotian swimmers to compete next week at the Canadian Swimming Championships in Edmonton, Alberta at the Kinsmen Sports Centre, August 4-7th.
Pool competition wrapped up today; the open water events will begin at 9:00am local time on August 1st; race distances include 2.5km and 5km.
