Nova Scotia Swimmers Produce Silver Medals in the Pool On Day Three of the 2016 Canadian Age Group National Championships
Swim Nova Scotia – Calgary, AB– Nova Scotia swimmers earned themselves three more silver medals in the pool during the third day of racing at the 2016 Canadian Age Group National Championships in Calgary, and one new Nova Scotia Provincial Record.
Dartmouth Crusader, Brett Liem earned himself a silver medal tonight in the men’s 16-18 50m Freestyle with a time of 23.50, his first medal of the event and a personal best time.
Halifax Trojan swimmers Jade Hannah and Sarah Polley also produced silver medals in their individual events tonight. Jade finished her 200m Butterfly with a time of 2:22.66 in the women’s 14 & under age group. Teammate Sarah Polley set a new 15-17 Nova Scotia Provincial Record with her silver medal swim in the 50m Freestyle with a lifetime best time of 26.39.
The Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club are currently the fifth ranked women’s team, 14th ranked men’s team and eighth ranked combined in the overall team scores.
Approximately 750 young swimmers from across Canada continue to compete at the Talisman Centre through to July 31st. There are a total of 20 swimmers from across Nova Scotia competing in the event.
Daily competition starts at 9:00am local time for preliminaries and 5:30pm local time for finals. The open water events start at 9am August 1st; race distances include 2.5km and 5km.
