Bowls Canada Boulingrin – Team Canada and Team USA took to the green today at the 2016 North American Challenge. The greens were running roughly 13 seconds at the Pacific Indoor Bowls Club, which is equivilent to the outdoor greens of the Southern Hemisphere. Play began with both Team Jarvis and Team Folkins competing in pairs and triples disciplines. Team Folkin Updates: In the morning draw, Team Canada Folkins had a clean sweep over Team USA. In the afternoon, Women’s pairs Pricilla Westlake (Delta, BC) and Jordan Kos (Regina, SK) began the match trailing Team USA Jarvis. Westlake and Kos never gave up to eventually over take Team USA for win (20-12).
The Men’s pairs team made up of Chris Stadnyk (Niagara Fall, ON) and Owen Kirby (Kitchener, ON), came up just short to Team USA losing 12-18 in the afternoon draw. Stadnyk and Kirby qualified for the low versus low match against US Folkins in the evening draw to lose 19-14. The Women’s triples team lost both matches against Team USA. Play continues for the Women’s triples tomorrow morning in the low versus low match. Team Jarvis Updates:
In the Men’s Triples team, Steven Santana (North Vancouver, BC), Kody Olthof (Delhi, ON) and Lucas Caldwell (Peterborough, ON) came down to the wire in the morning match. On the Women’s side, the pairs team, Sue Roth (Woodstock, ON) and Stirling Wood (Midland, ON) had a rough day, loosing all three matches. For the Women’s Triples team the day ended on a high note, with a win over Team USA, resulting in a split record of 1-1.
