BASEBALL CANADA – OTTAWA- Junior National Team catcher Noah Naylor (Mississauga, ON) has advanced to the final round of the High School Home Run Derby after winning today’s semi final round with a total of 15 home runs at Marlins Park in Miami.

Naylor, 17, will take on Nolan Gorman from Glendale, Arizona tomorrow and compete in-between breaks of the T-Mobile Home Run Derby (8pm ET) at Marlins Park.

After belting seven home runs in the first round of today’s semi finals, Naylor went off in round two with eight homers for a two-round total of 15 which was tops among the eight participants.

He joins his brother, Josh (2014), and Andy Yerzy (2015) as Canadians to reach the finals of the High School Home Run Derby. Both Naylor brother’s and Yerzy are the only three Canadians to participate in the derby since it began in 2013 and all three have reached the final round. Yerzy tied for the win in 2015 when the event was held at Great American Ball in Cincinnati, while Josh Naylor was narrowly edged out for the title in 2014 at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Josh Naylor, who will participate in today’s XM Futures Game along with fellow Canadians Cal Quantrill (Port Hope, ON) and Mike Soroka (Calgary, AB), were on hand this morning to support Noah during the semi final round.
