Tennis Canada – Eighth season of tennis talk show will feature 10 episodes

Toronto, May 19, 2017 – Tennis Canada announced Friday the return of fan-favourite tennis radio show Aces to Sportsnet 590 The FAN for another season of in-depth conversation about the sport’s hot topics. Veteran tennis reporter Tom Tebbutt and broadcaster Roger Lajoie will once again host the hour-long show, which will air for 10 episodes through the summer. It will kick off on Monday May 22 with special guest Sloane Stephens, former world No. 11 and Australian Open semifinalist.

“The tennis season really is kicking into high gear now, so it’s the perfect time for Aces to return,” said Karl Hale, tournament director, Rogers Cup presented by National Bank. “The long-lasting partnership between Tennis Canada and Sportsnet 590 The FAN to bring this show to the air has resulted in an outstanding place for tennis fans to catch up on the latest news. Aces is the perfect fix for anyone who follows the sport and I’m looking forward to the season.”

Aces will air on most Mondays from May 22 to August 28 for a total of 10 episodes. The show can be heard live at 11 p.m. on your AM 590 dial or online at www.sportsnet.ca/590. A podcast of each episode will also be available online the following morning, and next-day recaps of each show will be featured on the Tennis Canada website.

Popular regular segments featured on Aces include Tom’s Mailbag, where Tebbutt receives and responds to fan mail and questions. Also making a return in 2017 is a regular feature with top official Tony Cho, a prestigious gold badge referee at international pro tournaments, who offers his expert insight and shares offbeat stories about life on the tour.

Aces tackles the week’s most current topics, and offers listeners a chance to win regular prizes through contests and trivia questions. Lajoie and Tebbutt will also be joined by several tennis personalities over the course of the season. Past guests of Aces include Milos Raonic, Eugenie Bouchard, Chris Evert, John McEnroe, Jack Sock, Serena Williams, Daniel Nestor, Petra Kvitova, Pam Shriver, and James Blake.

“Roger and I always enjoy doing the show so it’s great to be back for another season,” said Tebbutt, a leading international tennis journalist who has covered over 100 Grand Slams. “There is definitely a lot to talk about in the tennis world these days and listeners should look forward to more interesting guests, opinions, and stories. It should be a fun summer.”
