Canada Soccer – The 2017 Canada Soccer Futsal Canadian Championship trophy went to Québec for the first time as Montréal Sporting Outlaws FC defeated Saskatchewan’s inaugural entrant Saskatoon Olimpia SK FC 7:3 in the final match at the Queen’s University Athletic and Recreation Centre in Kingston, ON 23 April 2017.

Outlaws FC’s Diyaeddine Abzi scored a hat trick in the final match to earn both the Golden Boot, with eight total goals and the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.

For Olimpia SK FC, the finals appearance punctuated Saskatchewan’s first-even Futsal Canadian Championship. The Saskatoon-based club led by player coach and captain Jerson Barandica Hamilton drew former Futsal Canadian Championship winners Futsal Club Toronto to earn a point and qualify for the final.

In addition to the Championship, Saturday afternoon featured a Youth Futsal Clinic with Canada Soccer’s Futsal Head Coach Kyt Selaidopoulos. The clinic included participants from the Kingston area.

This marked the first time that Kingston has hosted one of Canada Soccer’s national competitions. Previous editions of the Futsal Canadian Championship were played in Montréal, Québec (2015) and Oshawa, Ontario (2016).
