Diving Canada – MONTREAL – Benjamin Tessier of Blainville, Que., and Kate Miller of Ottawa each earned their second gold medal at the 2016 Speedo Junior Development Nationals diving competition on Saturday with victories in their respective 11 and under platform events.

On boys 11 and under platform, Tessier cruised to the gold with 318.70 points. Matt Cullen of Blainville was second at 249.50 and  Olivier Gauthier of Montreal third at 243.95.

‘’I had a lot of fun today I couldn’t believe my scores,’’ said Tessier. ‘’I just try to replicate what I do in practice.’’

Miller earned 247.90 points to edged Jordane Legault of Blainville second at 245.80.  Keira Lu of Victoria was third at 224.10.

Both Tessier and Miller were the one-metre winners on Friday.

In the 12-13 age group boys one-metre, Mathieu Aubin of Montreal was the winner with 376.40. Nathan Zsombor-Murray of Pointe-Claire, Que., collected his second medal with silver at 354.15 and Thomas Ciprik of Calgary was third at 348.55.

‘’I had a very good day,’’ said Aubin. ‘’The highlights for me was getting 9.0’s on my reverse dive and my back dive was pretty good too. I felt going in that I was one of the contenders for the gold.’’

In the girls 12-13 one-metre, Tatiana Conn of Calgary was first at 363.45, Romane Saito of Montreal second at 347.70 and Katelyn Fung of London, Ont., third at 329.25.

‘’It’s really exciting to get the win,’’ said Conn. ‘’I was surprised with my scores on my back and inward dives. They had given me a bit of trouble in practice.’’
