Freestyle Canada – Thaiwoo, China, February 25, 2017 – The Canadian moguls team concludes its World Cup season this weekend in China with another double program. A single moguls event took place Saturday afternoon in Thaiwoo, future site of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, and it seems that Olympic venues suit Mikaël Kingsbury well as he clinched his sixth win of the season today. On the women’s side, Justine Dufour-Lapointe won silver after winning the qualifications round and the first final.

Athletes skied in beautiful, sunny conditions on a course considered complicated and tight between moguls. But both Canadians managed well while enjoying the weather on the way down!

“I didn’t have much pressure on me today, knowing that I’d already won the Crystal globe. At the top of the course, there was a really good song playing and it was sunny. All I had left to do was follow my plan, which was very clear in my head; it wasn’t complicated. And this is what earned me the gold medal,” explained Kingsbury who now has eight victories this season.

Justine Dufour-Lapointe was happy with the way she skied through all rounds until the final. “I made a tiny mistake on the second jump in super final and it cost me the win. But I am extremely proud of my skiing. I now look forward to tomorrow’s dual moguls event and also, to World Championships in Spain.”

Detailed competition results are available here.

The dual moguls event is scheduled tomorrow afternoon local time in Thaiwoo. Live scoring is available at www.fis-ski.com. Thaiwoo is the last stop of the 2016-2017 FIS World Cup season.
