Freestyle Canada – Wins Second Medal in as Many Days
Tazawako, Japan, March 4, 2018 – Following Saturday’s single moguls event, skiers were back at it this Sunday afternoon in Tazawako for a dual moguls competition. The duals format always makes for an excellent show and the public was particularly thrilled with the outcome today as local favourite Ikuma Horishima ended up the big winner. Mikaël Kingsbury finished with silver today, a medal that keeps him at the top of the FIS World Cup standings and guarantees him a seventh consecutive Crystal Globe.
“I have won here these past three years and I believed my odds were good, but the conditions were very difficult with a type of snow that fit Ikuma’s style perfectly. He was excellent today, as he was yesterday as a matter of fact,” explained Kingsbury. “I am happy to have made finals, to have secured another Crystal Globe and also, that my worst result so far this season is a second place.”
On the women’s side, today’s best Canadian result went to Chloé Dufour-Lapointe, who finished sixth.
Mogul athletes now head to Airolo, Switzerland, for a dual moguls competition.
