Motivate Canada – Ottawa (ON) – Feb. 4, 2016 – As an official Winterlude Partner, Motivate Canada will participate in the Capital’s winter celebration by hosting an outdoor “Get in the Game” themed event at the Marion Dewar Plaza, Ottawa City Hall on Saturday, February 6th and Sunday, February 7th. With two large activity zones, there will be sport and physical activity challenges for the whole family.

Event details are as follows:

EVENT TITLE: Get in the Game with Motivate Canada
DATE: Saturday, February 6th and Sunday, February 7th.
TIME: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day
LOCATION: Marion Dewar Plaza, Ottawa City Hall

MEET AN OLYMPIAN: On Saturday, February 6th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., meet 2008 Sprint Canoe Olympian and Bronze Medalist, Tom Hall and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. meet 2014 Sochi Olympian and member of Canada’s National Bobsleigh Team, Cody Sorensen.

On Sunday, February 7th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. meet; Olympic Triathlete and three-time Canadian champion, Sharron Donnelly.
*Each athlete will be available for interviews immediately following their participation in the event.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

Visitors to Motivate Canada’s Get in the Game Event will not only have a chance to meet and have their picture taken with an Olympian, who also happen to be Motivate Canada ESTEEM Team athlete role models, but they will also have the opportunity to win prizes and experience fun physical activity challenges for all, including four-way “Tug-O-War”, hockey, snoga, and a multi-sport obstacle course for kids. Special guests also include representatives from the Ottawa South United Soccer Association (OSU) and the Ottawa Carleton Ultimate Association (OCUA) who will also demonstrate their sports and provide opportunities for participation.

The “Get in the Game” event is open to all Winterlude visitors’ ages five and up and will offer a variety of physical activity challenges and games that will provide opportunities for individuals to test their agility, balance, coordination and speed in a fun and creative environment.

As a proud Winterlude Partner, Motivate Canada plans to bring light to the role that sport plays in Canada while emphasizing the joy and benefits of participating in sport and physical activity at any age and in any environment, especially the outdoors.
