Canada Soccer – Matches to be held 4 June in Toronto and 7 June in Ottawa

Canada Soccer is now accepting media accreditation requests for the upcoming “Canada Soccer Road to Rio” Women’s National Team home friendly series against Brazil.

Canada Soccer will host two Women’s International Friendly matches against Rio 2016 Olympic host nation Brazil on Saturday 4 June in Toronto at BMO Field and Tuesday 7 June in Ottawa at TD Place.

To help us prepare our media operations, we ask that media submit their request before Monday 27 May 2016 to media@canadasoccer.com. Please include the following information in your accreditation request: name, outlet, phone number, email address, function (print, web, television, radio), and venue for accreditation (Toronto and/or Ottawa).

As part of Canada Soccer’s bid to step on the Olympic podium and see the maple leaf raised at consecutive Olympic Games, the two matches against Brazil will serve as important tests to get Canada ready for the tournament in August.

Toronto last hosted Canada’s Women’s National team in 2013 against the USA before a sold out crowd at BMO Field. Toronto hosted one Women’s National Team match against Brazil, back in 2008, which resulted in a one-all draw.

Ottawa, an Official Host City for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™, hosted nine matches including the USA v China quarterfinal, but did not host a Canada match. The June 7th match in Ottawa will be the first Women’s National Team appearance in Canada’s capital since 2003, when Canada beat Brazil 2:1 in front of 18,000 at the then Frank Clair Stadium.
