Athletics Nova Scotia – Athletics NB, Athletics PEI and Athletics NS are thrilled to announce the second annual Maritime Track League series!

The Maritime Track League (MTL) is a series of events that offer high performance track and field competition opportunities to athletes from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island! Athletics NB, Athletics Nova Scotia and Athletics PEI have been working on this project for the past few years. The inaugural MTL took place in 2015 and was a huge success that brought great exposure to the sport and we are certain that 2016 will be even better.

The MTL will once again offer awards to the top female, male and para athletes who take part in the series. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 athletes in each of these categories. This year, the prize money totals more than $4,000! In order to be eligible for the prizes, athletes must compete in any 2 series meets, as well as the Atlantic Championships.

The series will span the 2016 outdoor season with meets taking place across the Maritimes culminating with the Atlantic Championships in Saint John, NB on July 23-24.

“We are thrilled to announce that the MTL will be back again for 2016! This is an excellent opportunity for athletes in the Maritimes to showcase their skills at high quality meets without having to travel across the country” said Gabriel LeBlanc, Technical Director of Athletics NB. “The MTL is already showing growth from its inaugural year with several new meets added to the lineup and more prize money to be awarded. We are grateful that we have such a dedicated team working in unison across the Maritimes to make this series a reality” added LeBlanc.
