Manitoba Soccer Association – The Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) is pleased to announce that the 2016 National Club Championships will begin on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016, across the country, with the exception of the Masters and Classics Regional Club Championships that were held at the end of September in Winnipeg.

Under 14 Boys and Girls Club Championships – Moncton, NB

Under 16 Boys and Girls Club Championships – Lethbridge, AB

Under 18 Boys and Girls Club Championships – Vaughan, ON

Senior Men and Women Challenge and Jubilee Trophy – St. John’s, NL

The National Club Competition is not an easy competition as there are many matches in a short period of time. All Clubs look forward to the opportunity to be National Champions. 

The Winnipeg Lions FC in the men’s division will be returning to the National stage.  World Soccer Academy Northstars will also be competing in the senior category.

Héctor Vergara, MSA Executive Director, commented, “All Clubs have trained all year to reach this competition and we hope they have an opportunity to represent the Club and the Province very well.  At times some good fortune is required to avoid injuries and fatigue in a short competition.  We know they will all work very hard to achieve the best possible results.  We wish them all the best for a wonderful competition and experience for all players and coaches.”

The Bonivital SC Boys and FC Northwest Girls will be competing at the U18 competition:

The U16 teams representing Manitoba will be Bonivital SC in the Boys’ competition and FC Northwest and Bonivital SC in the Girls’ competition:

U16G BVSC players to watch: Sierra Halldorson

U16B BVSC player to watch: Ricky Gill

In the Under 14 competition Manitoba will be represented by Bonivital SC in the Boys’ and Girls’ competitions respectively.  This will be the first time for many players participating in a National Competition.  It will be very exciting for them.

Vergara added, “MSA referees will also be well represented at the National Club Championships. The Referee Program will be sending six match officials and two assessors to the various competitions.”

National Assistant Referee Peter Manastyrsky and Aubrey Kotelko will travel to Moncton for the U14 competition alongside National Assessor Frank Major.

Marko Kalic and Sabrina Ferraz will attend the U16 championships in Lethbridge.

Matthew Tessier and Graham Forsyth have been selected to participate at the U18 competition where they will be attempting to earn their National badges for the 2017 calendar year. National Assessor Mario Perrino will evaluate at the competition.
