Gymnastics Canada – MAEBASHI, JPN (August 5, 2018) – Rosie MacLennan and Rachel Tam of Toronto, ON represented Canada well at the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Cup in Maebashi, Japan this weekend, finishing fourth in the women’s synchronized trampoline final.

MacLennan and Tam finished in ninth place in the qualifying competition but advanced to the final as one of the Chinese pairs were not able to advance. In the final, MacLennan and Tam came together and had an outstanding routine to bump them up to fourth place overall with a score of 42.250.

“It was good to get back competing at the international level and seeing where the field is,” said MacLennan following competition. “I was also really happy coming fourth in synchro with Rachel, especially since this is our second competition together as a team and our first international competition together.”

“The highlight of my competition was competing in my first international finals as a senior athlete with my synchro partner Rosie,” said Tam. “Now that we have international experience, I think that we will be working on some more difficult routines, but beyond that, just increasing our numbers in training.”

MacLennan also competed in the women’s individual final and finished in eighth place with 54.990 points. “This wasn’t my strongest performance, but I accomplished my goal of reaching finals,” said MacLennan. “My goals coming here were to qualify for finals and to put out a relatively strong showing given that it’s my first international competition in quite a while. Moving forward, my goal is to Increase the difficulty of my second routine and really just focus in travel and height.”

Tam finished 15th in the women’s individual competition. Keegan Soehn and Jacob Cranham also represented Canada this weekend in the men’s competition but mistakes and injuries prevented the men from competing in the synchronized event and advancing to the individual finals.
