Equestrian Canada – Mill Spring, NC, Sept. 13, 2018 – Lisa Coulter, 46, of Princeton, BC, closed out her FEI World Equestrian Games ™ Tryon 2018 (WEG) experience with a 15th place finish in the Reining Second Individual Qualifier in Mill Spring, NC on Sept. 13, 2018.

Following the team competition on Sept. 12, which also acted as an individual qualifier, Coulter was the highest placed Canadian individual, and earned a berth into the next round of competition.

Representing the Canadian Reining Team, sponsored by the Canadian Quarter Horse Association, Coulter challenged the FEI Pattern 5 with Robert Norman Thompson’s eight-year-old Quarter Horse gelding, Smart Tinseltown, earning a score of 214.5.

“These horses are major athletes and we ask a lot of them,” said Coulter. “Smart Tinseltown tried his guts out and ultimately he was just a little tired. I’m still thrilled with his heart and his performance, and he’s a great horse.”

Coulter continued, “This is my third Games, and this facility has been the best yet. I hope they welcome us back because it’s a beautiful arena to compete in – it feels good, it’s big, it’s set up right, and the spectators can all interact with us really closely. We have nothing but huge thanks to this whole organization for putting this on the way that they did.”

Reining competition at WEG 2018 will conclude on Sept. 15 with the top 20 athletes vying for individual medals.
